The Zen of Kayaking

Written By Body Wipe Company Tags: kayaking , zen

Over the last few years the sport of kayaking has become very popular. There is something about getting into a boat that is low to the water and easy to navigate; that makes kayaking so appealing. The common categories of kayaking are recreational, sea and white water. Recreational kayaking is usually done in small lakes and slow moving rivers. Sea kayaking is performed in oceans or very large lakes (i.e. The Great Lakes), while white water kayaking is boating in fast moving rivers. Although each of these categories of kayaking involves different skills and types of kayaks, they all will provide you with a high level of enjoyment. No matter if it’s your first time or you are a seasoned kayaker, the feeling of getting in a kayak and taking the first few paddle strokes is exhilarating. As you begin to feel as one with the water, all your senses will take in the kayaking experience. Your body will start to relax with each new paddle stroke. As you glide the kayak seamlessly through the water, your mind drifts away from your everyday stresses and concerns. The sound of the paddle breaking the water in combination with the sights of the world around you will put you in a state of focus that incorporates a total togetherness of body and mind…Zen!

  1. I find that nature and exercise tend to be the best way to relieve me from stress. Both combined is even better! Kayaking sounds like a very attractive outdoor activity. You pointed out how you’re low to the water- that sounds amazing. I’ll have to try kayaking soon.
